TYRES ARE SUBJECT TO LEGAL REQUIREMENTS

The law requires your vehicle to be fitted with the correct type and size of tyre for the vehicle type you are driving and for the purpose it is being used.

There are also laws in place to govern all aspects of your tyres condition; most important of these is the minimum tread depth.  The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread going around the complete circumference of the tyre.

As your tyres are the only point of contact your vehicle has with the road, you can appreciate why it is vitally important that you select the right tyre type for the vehicle you are driving and for the purpose it is being used.  To protect yourself drivers should get into a habit of checking all tyres every regularly for pressure and general condition.  It's important to check the spare tyre as well.

We offer high quality used tyres to protect you andmaintain your custom.

OUR CHECKS ON USED TYRES

All tyres are carefully inspected for good condition
  • Full size range available
  • Standard car sizes as used tyres from 12 to 16 inch, all quality graded
  • Quality Requirement:
    1. Minimum 4/32 inch (3 mm) up to 6/32 inch (5 mm) of regular worn tread
    2. No remoulds in high performance
    3. No side or shoulder cuts
    4. Off-Road and SUVs have a minimum tread of 5/32 inch (4 mm) and up
Cuts, lumps and bumps are often caused by an impact between the tyre and a kerb, pothole or object in the road.  If your tyre has any of these symptoms then you must have the tyre checked as quickly as possible by a tyre specialist, as this sort of damage can result in sudden tyre failure.

Wheel alignment too is a very important step in maintaining and prolonging the life of your tyres.  Kerb or pothole damage affect your vehicle's wheel alignment settings which can lead to rapid or un-even tyre wear.  The car manufacturer sets your vehicle's wheel alignment at the factory, so when changing tyres it's worth a regular check to help prevent premature tyre wear caused by an incorrect wheel alignment setting.

Emergency braking can sometime leave your tyres with a 'flat spot'.  This can be another cause of premature tyre failure.  We recommended having your tyres checked if the vehicle has been involved in an emergency manoeuvre like sudden and heavy braking.  If you have any concern or doubt about the condition of your tyres, please ask a specialist for advice as soon as possible.

It's a Driver's responsibility

UK law requires that your vehicle is fitted with the correct type and size of tyres for the vehicle type you are driving and for the purpose it is being used.  This means fitting the right tyres, and for safety ensuring that they are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure.
